Memorial Day Weekend

This holiday means more to us this year than it has in past years, as my cousin Patrick was killed in Afghanistan last August defending our country.

Remembering Patrick on this Memorial Day Weekend

As for our weekend, well Tropical Storm Beryl put a damper on our beach plans :( We ended up staying close to home or rather we stayed home. We had everything we needed for the weekend here & so it ended up being pretty relaxing.

Saturday we picked blueberries from the backyard. I had been picking them all week, trying to get them before the birds or dear did.

Getting a little restless, ready for a ride around the yard :o)

Sunday we dodged rain most of the day but did manage a little more blueberry picking & some hamburgers & hot dogs on the grill, good thing the grill is inside a cook-house, it started to pour just as Donna got everything on the grill.

Donna got a break in the rain,
just in time to get the food off the grill

The boys loved their hamburger, hot dogs & even a little cauliflower salad (like potato, but with cauliflower) & baked beans.

We finally had a long enough break in the rain for the boys to try out their pool for the fist time...

And then it was time for home-made blueberry pie...

On Monday we had blueberry pancakes for breakfast. We cooked out again, steaks this time & had home-made blueberry ice cream.

Thank you to all that have served & are serving our country & we hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!!!

  1. it looks like it was a wonderful weekend for all of you, rain or not. The ice cream and pie makes me wish I lived close by! Yummo.
So sorry for the loss of your cousin. Afghanistan is the same mistake as Viet Nam all over again. We will gain nothing and lose far too much.

  3. Looks like it was a great time. Can't get over how big the boys look! Hopefully in June we can get all 6 or 7 in the pool together! :)

    1. I'm so excited about hanging out in just a couple weeks!!! I will definitely be packing swimsuits, I just can't decide if we should bring the choo choo or stroller, I don't think we can fit both...
