Baby Lead Weaning...

We decided to give "Baby Led Weaning" a try...

It has not been super successful nor a complete failure. While the boys do like to put everything in their mouths, they are just not sure about all of these textures.

The foods we have tried are:

Avocado, this was a little to slippery & it turned out to be bitter :( I'm not a fan of avocado so no love lost here.
Kellan
Asparagus, they ate the tips off of them but wanted nothing to do with the rest of it or pureed asparagus.
Caden

Garren
Carrots, the boys did not like carrots, they would eat a couple bites & then the tears would start. It is so sad to see a food bring tears to your babies eyes :(

Bananas were squishy too but the boys like them so they played along for a little bit :)

Cauliflower, they LOVE cauliflower!!! They ended up just sucking on the florets I gave them so we pureed up the rest & had it for lunch for a few days.

I have decided to just give the boys a few "puffs" or "baby mum mums" to chew on & work on their pincer grasp & coordination with. They have also been practicing with a straw cup instead of a sippy cup. (Explanation coming soon...)

  1. Great pictures! I've been doing a combo of BLW and purees too. I like introducing them to different textures. I like that BLW saves me from spoon feeding as well!

Have you seen those mesh teething things?

  2. I don't think my boys have actually consumed much feeding themselves, lol...
I have seen them, haven't gotten the urge to buy them yet.
