Surviving A Vet Visit

Haddie needed to see the vet last week, Donna was busy with work & couldn't take off to take her until the end of the week. I didn't feel like she could wait so I decided that the boys & I would take her...

The vets office was very very friendly, a couple of vet techs came out to play with & entertain the boys while I spoke to the vet about Haddie. Well Kellan has this little problem sometimes, when we go into new places he has a bit of a meltdown, especially if there are people who want to talk to him right away. So as soon as we walked in he started to cry, the more anyone tried to help or console him the worse he got. I usually keep the boys in their wagon in places like this so that they stay together & aren't getting into everything but I had to let Kellan out. He screamed even sitting with me so I let him roam around the waiting room. I went into the exam room, with the door open so I could still keep an eye on Garren & Caden in the wagon even though the vet tech was with them. I answered questions about Haddie & Kellan found the door to the exam room & occupied himself with opening & closing the door repeatedly, sometimes on the inside of the exam room & sometimes outside, lol. I ended up going back into the waiting room because Caden & Garren were wanting to get up & wander since their brother was. I found Baby Einstein videos on YouTube & that distracted them long enough for the vet to examine Haddie.

Our suspicions were right & Haddie was having a pretty dramatic allergic reaction to fleas, even though her & Eason receive monthly flea drops. Apparently here in South Georgia, we have mutant fleas & oral flea meds have to be used to keep them at bay during the summer. She had also given herself a little skin infection from all the scratching. Donna had also felt a lump on Haddie's hip & so I had that checked out, it turned out to be a fatty tumor & is nothing to worry about, thank goodness!

In the midst of the madness there was a man whom I couldn't tell if he was coming or going but anyways he was there & kept interjecting comments & questions about the boys. "What are they twins or something?" "So how do you do that, 3 kids AND a dog?!" (Little did he know we have another dog too, lol) I really did not have the time to answer him nor could I hear him over the initial screaming Kellan was doing but he kept on talking & asking questions as if I were standing right next to him with absolutely nothing else going on. Some people are so strange!!! Lol...

I was sure everyone in the office was ready for us to go when our appointment was over but the vet came out & talked o the boys. Garren pointed to all of the pictures & figurines of animals in the room signing & saying what they were, primarily dogs & cats. The tech that had played with the boys walked us out & told the boys she couldn't wait or them to come back, YIKES! I don't know that that will happen again anytime soon, lol...

We've Missed Her!

This past weekend my bonus sister, Mindy made a surprise visit to FL to see my bonus mom for Mother's Day.

We were not able to make a trip down but since we are so conveniently located right off of I-95, we were able to convince her & the boy's little cousin, Aliyah to stop by :)

Our attempt at a group shot, lol...

So Monday on their back to NC, they stopped by to play for a little bit. We've missed them since leaving NC & have been anxious to see them again. Gestationally the boys & Aliyah are almost exactly the same age & were peas in a pod as infants, especially Garren & Aliyah. It wondered if they would remember each other after not seeing each other for a whole year. Well weather they did or not, they acted as if no time had gone by. Garren & Aliyah were pretty much attached at the hip, hugging, kissing & holding hands. He's always been an affectionate boy but he's never given kisses to anyone else before.

We had a nice visit, the boys adore Aunt Mindy & probably wore her out more than she wanted before having to drive another 6 hours home.

Tennis Anyone?

I recently read on Facebook that one of the other triplet moms took her trio to a tennis court to play. Genius idea!!! Especially for those of us lacking a fenced yard.

So Monday we went to check it out. We have a really nice park here that has softball/baseball fields, soccer fields, a dog park, 2 huge (non fenced) playgrounds, a skate park, walking trail & tennis courts. It's pretty quiet there in the morning aside from a few walkers. So I loaded up a few balls & the boys new bubble mowers & let them loose.

First they just ran & ran, then they checked out the lighting boxes, they chased the balls & made a few bubbles with the mowers. They each loved hiding under the screen along the fence & of course picking up any little stick or stone they ran across. Nobody said anything but I sort of got the feeling we shouldn't have had the mowers on the tennis court so when we went back yesterday I just took balls, we'll save the mowers for the grass at the dog park ;)

 Geese!

A ride in the Choo Choo for old times sake

You can't see it but there was a gator out there :)

Yesterday after the boys were all flush from running I loaded them up in their choo choo wagon & we went for a walk on the trail. It's a really beautiful area & very nice paved trail around a lake. We met some geese & their 5 babies & we also saw an alligator. Who knew there were alligators in Georgia?

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a special day for us as I'm sure it is for all moms. We are so thankful for all the amazing moms we have in our lives. I have been very fortunate to have not only my mom & bonus mom, but also an amazing mother in law, my grandmother, my aunt & even a surrogate mom whom I grew up next door to that have all influenced the mom I am today.

We are also super grateful for an amazing woman who played an important role in helping us become moms! Thank you Camie for all of your care, compassion & all you did for us through our transition & your own :)

We are honored to be moms to the most amazing little boys we could have ever imagined!!!

Garren, Caden & Kellan

Happy Mother's Day to all you amazing moms out there!!!
