Reflux... Again

I feel like a horrible horrible mother having let this go on for so long.

Kellan started complaining about having a stomach ache probably in October. It was usually associated with something he didn't want to do... going to school, cleaning up, getting ready for bed & so on. He wasn't doubled over or exhibiting any symptoms so I just listened & watched. I started to think that he was suffering from anxiety, he was getting upset when he would complain about his stomach but it was still happening when something he didn't want was going on. I talked to Donna about talking to his doctor about it.

Then about 3 weeks ago, Kellan threw up kind of randomly. His teacher told me a stomach was going around at school, so I still didn't think much about it. Last week he woke up a couple hours after going to bed crying and complaining about hurting all over, then he threw up. He had a high fever that night so I thought that stomach bug had finally really gotten a hold of him or that he had the flu. Aside from a fever & lethargy he was fine the next day. Then a few days later he was sitting on the couch watching TV & said he needed a bowl to throw up in & you guessed it, he puked!

I called the doctor the next day & they had me bring him in after school. After talking to Kellan, finding out where his belly hurt, & examining him, she suspects that he has reflux... again. All 3 boys had reflux as infants, Kellan had it the worst & was over a year old before he was able to stop taking the medication. The doctor put him back on a prescription for reflux to see if it resolves his tummy trouble. We will follow up in a month to see if its helping.

On one hand I hope it's as simple as reflux but on the other hand, I hate that he has to take medication everyday for it. If it is in fact reflux, it explains some other things like why he wakes up through the night, his aversion to tomato sauce & the reason he only eats the crust & toppings off of pizza. We've already seen a slight improvement in his nervousness & irritability, thankfully!

Giving Up Soccer Mom Status...

For T-Ball!!!

The boys have been playing soccer at their school once a week. They play with an organization that focuses on skills & not competition, so they don't actually play against other teams. It's been good in the physical activity aspect, they are WORN OUT when I pick them up & they do love soccer. I feel kind of bad about them not playing at school anymore because Kellan's BFF plays & he loves his time with her but it is rather expensive for what they do (& for 3) & it's on the same day as one of their T-Ball practices.

Sort of out of the blue the boys all expressed an interest in playing T-Ball so when I was chatting with a friend & she mentioned sign ups were NOW (then) I immediately paused the conversation to sign the boys up!
The boys were super excited when I told them & again when I got their little gloves. The day I got them they wore their gloves & ran around the house pretending to catch balls the whole afternoon.

Garren diving for a catch (there wasn't an actual ball involved, lol)

Learning the bases

Kellan learning to hold & swing a bat correctly

Garren hit the ball so hard he spun all the way around, lol

They're all so little!!!

Caden hitting a pitched ball

Garren whacked one too :)

Kellan was the most proud of his hit!!!

The boys are doing great, Caden & Kellan are throwing much better than when they started practices & they can all hit the ball pretty well. Caden still struggles with running to first after a hit, one night he ran to third instead & sometimes he just watches everyone chase after his ball, lol... but he's getting there.

Kellan didn't want to go last week because he said because he didn't throw very well. After some pep talks & encouragement he was excited again and after hitting the ball last night, he is super stoked to play again! Thank goodness :)

January...

January went by in kind of a blur... here are just a few of the happening...

Back to school after the holidays was exhausting for Caden!

The boys caught up on quality time with Donna after the Christmas rush that had her working super late. Kellan set up a picnic (table is on a blanket) for MomMom one night.

Garren likes his quality time extra close!

Short weeks (closed one day for MLK day) are exhausting for Garren.

MomMom was a birthday princess, lol...
Really she was napping on the floor at a friends & the boys dressed her up.

MomMom's birthday dinner.
My mom & bonus dad also took us all to lunch for her birthday &
we had celebration at her parents for her & her dad's birthday.

We had some very cold (for FL) weather that required wearing clothes to play outside...

so the boys opted for indoor playing, lol!

Kellan told his bff Bella that he loves her, she responded the feeling was mutual & they proceeded to take selfies, really poor 4 year old selfies, lol

The friday ritual still stands, CFA ice cream date with Bella & her mom after school.

We closed out the month snuggling our friend's newest set of twin boys,
yep, their second set of twin boys in 3 years.

Baby fever anyone?!?!?

Caden's had baby (sister) fever since our niece Nadia came along,
he loved cuddling, feeding & rocking Jude & Luca!

Hope your year has started off awesome! I'm hoping to be a better blogger in February :)
